New Study to Speed Up Ocean Water Quality Testing

Last week the South Orange County Wastewater Authority (SOCWA) Board Members approved the purchase of an advanced monitoring device called BioRad QX200.

BioRad QX200 detects the presence of potentially harmful bacterial in ocean water samples and gives same-day sample results as opposed to two-day sample results with traditional testing methods.

SOCWA plans to study the effectiveness compared to their current testing method over the next year and will be reviewed by the EPA for approval. This new testing technology will increase peace of mind that a trip to the beach won’t end with a water-related illness. Stay tuned for more updates!
