Laura ParisiI have served as the elected City Treasurer for Laguna Beach since 1999.  This is a part-time position that is responsible for banking, treasury management, investment of city funds and assessment district administration.   I am proud to have contributed to the City’s success while raising my children in Laguna Beach. 

During the first half of my career, I served in the public sector in various roles including Chief Financial Officer, Vice-President Finance, Controller and CPA/Auditor.  My work included the management of very large accounting and finance departments, public reporting, SEC filings, accounting system automation and multi-state taxation management.  My work as a CPA included the Cities of Des Plaines and Chicago Illinois and the audit of investments for large insurance companies.

When my children were older, I was able to serve the municipal treasury community.  Through the California Municipal Treasurers’ Association (CMTA), I coordinated training programs for the local division then served a Legislative Chair until 2009.  I am a current member of the Legislative Committee.  I am also an 18-year member of the Revenue and Taxation Committee, League of California cities.   In 2016 I served as the committee Chair. Formerly had the honor of serving on the Local Agency Investment Board under two California State Treasurers and the honor of serving on the Orange County Treasury Oversight Committee under the current County Treasurer.

My degrees in Accounting, Business Administration and minor in Economics from Illinois State University are augmented with multiple professional licenses including, Certified Public Accountant, Certified California Municipal Treasurer and Certified Fixed Income Practitioner.
