Services provided by the Fair Housing Council of Orange County include fair housing enforcement and education, landlord/tenant counseling, mediation and homebuyer HUD counseling which includes first-time homebuyer education and mortgage default counseling.

Services are available to low-to-moderate income clients free-of-charge and to others for a moderate donation. Services are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Fair Housing Laws

All states are required to comply with the federal Fair Housing Act. The State of California extended housing discrimination laws to cover other protected groups. The Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and the Unruh Act, along with other California state laws, prohibit discrimination in housing because of:
