Lt. Cornelius Ashton is the Police Department's Public Information Officer (PIO) and serves as a department liaison with the news media. 

The PIO is responsible for providing the media and public with accurate information on crime incidents, police department's policies, procedures, services, and other police-related events.

Media Team

The Police Media Team was created to increase engagement with our community through multiple platforms including social media. The team is a special assignment and consists of sworn and civilian employees. Media Platforms include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor, website news articles, and Public Service Announcement (PSA) videos.

Denial of Access

The City of Laguna Beach reserves the right to deny access to any Laguna Beach Police Department social media platforms for any user, who violates the Laguna Beach Police Department Social Media Policy, at any time and without prior notice.

If you wish to contest the removal or hiding of your content, or your denial of access (“banned”) from our social media platforms, you may do so in writing by emailing pdmedia@lagunabeachcity.net. 

Public Records Request

The City of Laguna Beach is committed to providing prompt, courteous access to Public Records Requests. All requests for documents will be reviewed and responded to within ten (10) days after you submit this form to determine whether the record(s) you have requested are subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act.

Sometimes, especially requests for voluminous records, the City may take up to fourteen (14) additional days to consider your request. After the City has determined whether the record(s) requested are subject to disclosure, the City Clerk's office will let you know when to expect them.
