A Message From the Parade Committee

Our Parade committee officers have decided that it is best to cancel the 2024 Patriots Day Parade because of the threat of rain.

We are heartbroken that the step was necessary after six months planning and know that you are too, but feel that for the safety of our entries and all concerned, it is the best possible decision.

Parade programs are available by emailing shworthy@cox.net.

If you paid an entry fee this year, credit will be given for your 2025 entry.

About the Parade

Since 1967, the Patriots Day Parade takes place annually on the first Saturday in March. Entries in this event range from civic and veterans’ organizations to school bands, floats, vintage automobiles, and novelty groups. The parade also honors citizens who have served the community and those who have served the nation in time of war or national emergency.

How to Participate

The Patriots Day Parade Association is a small group of dedicated volunteers. They welcome new members on their committee and are in search of volunteers to assist on the day of the parade. To enter a group or organization to march in the parade, or to advertise in the parade booklet, email Sandi Werthe at shworthy@cox.net or call (949) 494-6016. The ad and entry deadline is in early January.

Parade Day

The parade begins at Park Avenue and Legion Street, proceeds down Park Avenue, turns right on Glenneyre Street, right on Forest Avenue and ends just past City Hall. To accommodate the parade route as well as pedestrian traffic in the downtown area, portions of Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Beach Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, Mermaid Street, Glenneyre Street, Short Street, Legion Street, Park Avenue and the Peppertree Parking Lot will be closed to vehicular traffic prior to and during the event. The weekly farmer’s market is cancelled due to the parade, and will resume on March 9, 2024.
