Your Waste Carts
Laguna Beach residents are provided with three carts: A gray-lidded cart for recyclables, a green-lidded cart for green waste, and a blue-lidded cart for trash. Waste Management has clear information about what can and cannot be recycled.
Green Waste Cart collects all yard trimmings, grass, tree branches, sawdust, green plants, and weeds. Do not place green waste in plastic bags. Ice plant and palm branches cannot be placed in the green waste cart. Animal and food waste cannot be placed in the green waste cart.
Residents are provided free bulky item collections three (3) times each calendar year. Bulky items include large, hard-to-handle household items such as furniture, appliances and electronic waste. Up to ten (10) items may be collected each time at no charge. Residents may request additional collection for a charge. Bulky item collection is a special service and is collected separately from the automated cart program. Residents my call the Customer Service Center at least 48 hours in advance of their collection day to schedule a pick-up.
Between October 1 and February 28, Laguna Beach residents may place unlimited amounts of leaves at the curb alongside their green waste cart bundled or inside tied plastic green waste bags. Bundled green waste must not exceed 5 feet in length or weigh more than 50 pounds.
Waste Management will collect and recycle holiday trees for the first three weeks following December 25th. To participate, place trees at the curb on your regular collection day. Trees taller than six feet must be cut in half. Remove all decorations including tinsel, lights, ornaments, and tree stands. Trees are taken to Tierra Verde Industries in Irvine for composting.
Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be recycled. Plastic or faux trees should be placed in your trash if under six feet in length or scheduled as a bulky item pick-up.
Physically disabled customers unable to take their wheeled carts to the designated collection location can contact the Customer Service Center to request special assistance.

- Roll your carts into the street and place them against the curb when possible with the handle facing the house. Be sure the carts are about one foot away from other carts and objects.
